Digital DJWhat is a Digital DJ and what does it mean for you?
A digital DJ is a Disc Jockey that uses a computer. When you look at our setup, you will see a laptop computer. No CD players, no amplifiers, no turntables, and most of all, no compact discs scattered all over the place. How this works is fairly simple. We maintain a music subscription which sends us monthly radio play CDs from TM Century's Prime Cuts. This keeps us on top of the latest hits and gives us the songs that you just heard on the radio. We first buy a compact disc from this service (No, I don't steal music from Kazaa/Grokster; that is illegal.) and then encode the songs into MP3 format. In MP3, the songs are encoded at a 192-bit sample rate, eliminating unnecessary sounds and resulting in better-than-CD-quality music. The disc is kept in our archive, and the converted MP3 songs are stored on our computers' hard drives in specific music folders. We currently have more than 10,000 songs available in our collection. All of them are available with a couple clicks of the mouse. What if your computer malfunctions?
The computers we use are specifically made for professional DJs, not some computer purchased off the shelf at the local Best Buy. The system we use is called DJ Power (www.djpower.com) and has been an industry standard for X years. The system specifications include the following:
A system of this quality is like bringing a powerboat to a sailboat boat race. In the case of a malfunction, we keep a complete back-up system on site, the kind of reassurance your special event merits. What else does a system like this allow Flipside to do?
This system allows us more time to entertain you and your guests. We can be out interacting with your guests while the computer plays the songs. All the songs are kept in a "to be played" list and the computer will automatically mix between the songs. The music selection is easy to search through; all we need to do is type in the name of the song. No rifling cases of CDs searching for music. In addition to music for listening and dancing, karaoke requests can be quickly added or changed as needed.
